The Industrial Sector Committee Discusses Industry’s Challenges with Representatives of the Private Sector

The Industrial Sector Committee of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry held a meeting with representatives of the private sector to discuss the issues of concern facing the business community in Qatar and their potential impacts on the industrial sector at large.

The meeting, chaired by Mr. Saleh Majid Al-Khulaifi, Assistant Undersecretary for Industrial Affairs and Business Development and Chairman of the Committee, was held at the Ministry’s headquarters in Lusail, in the presence of committee members and representatives of the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

At the meeting, participants reviewed proposals aimed at improving the business ecosystem and stimulating industrial growth. Discussions also focused on strengthening cooperation between the public and private sectors to overcome challenges facing the sustainable development of the sector.

The Industrial Sector Committee was established in 2024 by the ministerial decision of H.E. Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al Thani, Minister of Commerce and Industry, and it is chaired by Mr. Saleh Majid Al-Khulaifi. The Committee brings together representatives from the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, Qatar General Organization for Standards and Metrology, QatarEnergy, the Free Zones Authority, Economic Zones Company (Manateq), Qatar Development Bank, and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

The committee holds regular meetings and workshops with the private sector to look into their potential concerns, challenges, and proposals and discuss implications on the business environment and national economy. The committee seeks to advance public-private partnerships, ensure transparency in the measures adopted to address private sector challenges, and foster trust among stakeholders. It delivers specialist advice and recommendations based on the outcomes of discussions and deliberations in such a way that addresses economic development priorities and business environment improvement objectives.
